Exhibitor interview: SANITIZED USA

Ahead of the upcoming Compounding World Expo in Cleveland, we spoke to Aric Axness, Senior Business Development Manager at SANITIZED USA, Inc.

SANITIZED supplies a wide range of antimicrobial additives for the plastics, coatings, and textile industries. SANITIZED has the antimicrobial solutions no matter what type of polymer or coating is used by the customer.

What do you think sets your company apart from your competitors?

SANITIZED has many antimicrobial additives available for our customers so we can use our technical expertise to select the best performance at the lowest add-on cost needed for each application. We also offer our customers the Sanitized® brand license to add value to our customer’s products.

Are there any new technology developments that your company is working on at the moment?

We recently gained EPA FIFRA registration for PL 14-32, a proprietary liquid dispersion, designed specifically for the PVC industry offering best in class antimicrobial performance at a competitive add-on cost.

What are the biggest challenges facing the industry today and how can this be overcome?

EPA regulatory restrictions on antimicrobial claims continue to be difficult to make effective messages to the consumer. We are the only company that the EPA allows for our customers to use the term “Sanitized”. Using claims that a product contains “Sanitized Protection” with our brand license offers a clear message to the consumer that brings the connotation of “hygienic” or “germ-free” surfaces for our customers’ products.

How do you see the sector developing in the next five to ten years?

The growth rate of antimicrobial polymers and coatings are projected to grow at twice the GDP rate in the USA over the next 5-10 years. Furthermore, these antimicrobial products generally offer end-users a higher margin than non-antimicrobial products.

What are you most looking forward to at this years’ show?

I’m most looking forward to networking and beginning new antimicrobial projects with masterbatch and compounding producers.

SANITIZED will be exhibiting at Compounding World Expo North America.
